The Camden Downtown is the second recent project Camden Property Trust has brought to the east central Houston area, Camden McGowen Station was the latest in 2018.

Camden Property Trust is set up as a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) meaning they are involved in the ownership, development, redevelopment, acquisition, and construction of their apartment communities. Currently in Houston, Camden manages and owns interests in over 20 properties.

It is going up on part of a 3 acre lot bordered by Austin, Bell, La Branch, and Pease streets. Originally delayed due to the oil slump, the development officially broke ground at the end of 2017. Architects of the project claim the orientation of the tower should also minimize the shadows of the building on the 20,000 square foot amenity deck. Catalyst, a 359-unit, 28-story high-rise, marks its debut April 5 and is less than 30 percent occupied, according to leasing manager Brandy Vogel. The apartment complex sits on a city block bounded by Texas Avenue, Austin street, Prairie Street and La Branch Street. It’s the second Catalyst apartment project for Illinois-based multifamily developer Marquette Cos., the first is in Chicago. 111 Rusk Luxury High Rise Apartments Coming Soon

The old Texaco building located at 111 Rusk in downtown Houston has been bought out by developers who plan to convert it into a sixteen story luxury high rise apartment. [caption id="attachment_5610" align="aligncenter" width="800"] 111 Rusk Texaco Project Renderings.[/caption]

“This 410,000-square-foot property has been vacant since 1989, when the oil giant relocated to a new tower on the western end of downtown”

The Developer is expecting to start construction soon and begin converting the 1915 sixteen-story structure into high-end rental residences. There will be 240 high-end apartment units total in the original building with the possbility of over 100 more if the developer decides to built a 28-story tower on top of the parking garage.

The Parking Garage will be nine stories and will house room for over 550 cars because the building will also feature ground retail & commercial space on the first and second floors.
